Despite a struggling economy, LBBC’s Butterfly Ball raised more than $550,000 for education and support programs. Over 600 people attended the annual gala, held on Saturday, October 3, at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.

At this year’s event, LBBC honored five women affected by breast cancer, including one of our own! Our director of programs and partnerships, Elyse Spatz Caplan, MA, was presented with the Founder’s Award for her outstanding professional contributions to educating and supporting women affected by breast cancer,

Hear Elyse talk about her diagnosis at age 34, her breast cancer journey and her career path helping other women affected by breast cancer.

We also honored Wendy Jonas, Phyllis Markoff, Emily Scattergood and Aundreia Alexander “for their courage, compassion and contribution to women and families affected by breast cancer.” Listen to their stories.

The evening also included a live and silent auction, dinner, entertainment and more. During the live auction, attendees bid on a variety of items, including a one-week stay in the hills of Tuscany at the Villa Sassella in Lucca in a beautifully restored 14th century home, and an unforgettable five-day, four-night African safari in the exclusive Ongava Game Reserve in Namibia.
