LBBC Launches 2013 Fall Conference Registration

July 15, 2013

Living Beyond Breast Cancer announced today that registration opened for the annual fall conference, News You Can Use: Breast Cancer Updates for Living Well. The conference takes place Saturday, Oct. 26, to Sunday, Oct. 27, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City.

"A highlight of the conference will be an opening general session presented by Dr. Siddartha Mukherjee*, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer," said Elyse Spatz Caplan, MA, LBBC's director of programs and partnerships.

In addition, a second general session with Hollye Jacobs, founder and editor of TheSilverPen.com, and a closing session hosted by Suzanne Dixon, MPH, MS, RD, will also be featured.

The three general session speakers will be joined by some of the country's leading breast cancer experts specializing in treatment and ongoing quality-of-life issues. These experts will host workshops that address topics that include current research discoveries, medical advancements and healthy living strategies for women of all ages diagnosed with all stages and types of breast cancer.

Additionally, highlights of the two-day event include news on genetic testing and family risk, healthful eating tips during and after breast cancer, methods to manage the emotional impact of diagnosis and survivorship, workshops on treatment options for different breast cancer diagnoses and treatment decision planning, and information about the effects of breast cancer treatments on fertility and ways to explore different options.

"LBBC's fall conference is a great resource for anyone living with a history of breast cancer," Elyse concluded. "In addition to providing the latest news and information, the conference also affords attendees a wonderful chance to expand their circles of support and gain insight into the resources LBBC has available as they navigate life after diagnosis."
