For a fifth consecutive year, LBBC has been recognized as a Four-Star Charity by leading nonprofit evaluator Charity Navigator , again earning the highest rating for charities.

“We are honored to receive this rating for the fifth year in a row,” says Jean A. Sachs, MSS, MLSP, chief executive officer of LBBC. “It highlights our dedication to being good stewards of the money we raise. In these challenging economic times, we remain committed to increasing our programs and services so that women affected by breast cancer have a place to turn for information and support.”

According to its website, Charity Navigator is the largest nonprofit evaluator in the United States. The organization guides intelligent giving by evaluating the financial health of more than 5,000 charities. Charity Navigator, a nonprofit organization, does not accept advertising or donations from the groups it evaluates.

“Only 5 percent of the charities we rate have received at least five consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that Living Beyond Breast Cancer consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America,” says Charity Navigator President and CEO Ken Berger in the letter announcing the rating. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Living Beyond Breast Cancer from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

Charity Navigator’s rating system is based on an evaluation of organizational efficiency and capacity, including program expenses, fundraising efficiency, primary revenue growth and working capital ratio in comparison with the performances of similar charities.
