LBBC’s Young Advocate Program Now Accepting Applicants

November, 14, 2013

Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Young Women’s Initiative is now accepting applications for the 2014 Young Advocate Program.

The small group of young women selected to take part in the Young Advocate Program will receive training on how to better advocate for those affected by breast cancer within their communities and will gain a better understanding of the disease. The training will be led by prominent advocates of those affected by cancer and by LBBC staff throughout the weekend of C4YW, the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer, held February 21–23, 2014, in Orlando, Fla.

This opportunity is geared toward women with limited incomes who were diagnosed with breast cancer within the last 3 years, were under 45 years of age at the time of diagnosis and who have not attended C4YW before. Those accepted into the program will receive up to $850 in financial assistance to help offset the cost of attending C4YW, where they will participate in advocacy training. They will also complete at least two advocacy-related activities in their communities in spring and summer 2014.
