In addition to our Medical Advisory Board members, Living Beyond Breast Cancer is fortunate to have many other breast cancer experts who donate their time and energy to serve as speakers, reviewers, advocates and expert resources.
Kathryn Schmitz, PhD, MPH, is associate professor of epidemiology in the department of biostatistics and epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Schmitz’s primary research interest is the relationship between obesity and cancer.
Dr.Deborah Seagull earned her doctorate degree from the Derner Institute at Adelphi University in N.Y., specializing in psychoanalytic and health psychology.
Kim Selig is the coordinator of the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program (YWBCP) at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
Joseph Serletti, MD, is chief of the division of plastic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. His areas of expertise are breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery.
Nikita Shah, MD
Pamela Joyce Shapiro, PhD, is an adjunct assistant professor in the department of psychology at Temple University and an assistant research professor at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Her research focuses on understanding the causes of cancer-related cognitive change and the impact of these cognitive difficulties on quality of life.
Dr. Sharan is a physician and assistant professor of medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.
Joy Simha is one of three original co-founders of the Young Survival Coalition and serves on their board of directors. She represents the YSC on the board of directors of The National Breast Cancer Coalition and serves on the executive committee of the NBCC.
