Exploring the Genetic Connection

Almost 15 years ago, researchers discovered that women who carry mutations of BRCA1 or BRCA2 are at higher risk of developing breast and/or ovarian cancer compared to women who do not have one of these genetic mutations. Dr. Olopade discusses this genetic connection, provides information on the latest genetic research and talk about the medical, ethical, psychological and interpersonal issues of genetic counseling and family risk assessment including how genetic testing can help with decision making and how to discuss family risk and genetic testing with loved ones.
