About Our Speaker

Ms. Brethwaite is an oncology certified and licensed clinical social worker at Life with Cancer, an organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life of individuals and families facing cancer by providing information, education and support. Her responsibilities include individual and family counseling to promote adjustment to illness and improved quality of life, and group facilitation with an interest in caregivers, couples, stem cell transplant, leukemia, end of life and bereavement. Ms. Brethwaite is an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University, teaching in the social work department, and a field instructor for graduate students from universities in the Washington, DC, area.
