At our May community meeting, Evelyn Robles-Rodriguez, RN, MSN, APN, AOCN, provided a greater understanding about neuropathy, nerve damage that results from some breast cancer treatments. At this community meeting, participants:

  • Learned to recognize neuropathy
  • Discovered what symptoms to look for
  • Gained an understanding of medical treatments for neuropathy
  • Received practical tips to ensure safety, such as watching for temperature and sensation changes

About Our Speaker

Ms. Robles-Rodriguez is an oncology advanced practice nurse at Cooper University Hospital in the division of hematology and oncology. She is a member of LBBC's medical advisory board.

At Cooper Cancer Institute, Ms. Robles-Rodriguez serves as the director for oncology outreach programs. She manages the planning and development of the Camden County Cancer Screening Project, the Cancer Education and Early Detection program for Camden County, New Jersey. This program provides outreach, education and screening for breast, cervical, prostate and colorectal cancer to uninsured individuals living in Camden County. She is also involved in managing other cancer community outreach and education efforts, including programs for genetics and national prevention trials.

Ms. Robles-Rodriguez writes government and foundation grants and serves as principal investigator for many of these funded research and community programs. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and she is committed to educating the lay and professional community about cancer. She regularly lectures to nursing and other professionals, cancer support groups, schools and consumers.
