During LBBC’s free October community meeting, participants learned about research on the current dietary recommendations for women affected by breast cancer. Karen Marr, MS, RD, LDN, CSO, also discussed:
- Strategies for improving eating habits
- Ways to improve understanding of the changing and sometimes confusing news headlines on diet and breast cancer
- Tips for making healthy food choices and maintaining healthy body weight after treatment
About Our Speaker
Karen Marr, MS, RD, LDN, CSO is a board certified clinical oncology dietician at the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Eastern Regional Medical Center. Ms. Marr provides personalized nutrition consultations for patients to maintain a healthy weight during treatment by providing dietary guidance through menu planning, tips on controlling treatment side effects such as nausea and vomiting, and overall diet education.
Ms. Marr attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in food and nutrition. She also completed a dietetic internship through the university.
