About Our Speakers
Christina Bach is a licensed clinical social worker, certified in oncology social work, at the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient oncology settings for nearly 15 years, and serves as the psychosocial content editor for Oncolink. Christina is interested in addressing the psychosocial needs of cancer patients and their caregivers and in patient education and empowerment, the financial impact of cancer care,medical ethics and end-of-life care and animal-assisted interventions. She works regularly with her two registered therapy dogs, Gus and Finn, in a variety of settings. Interested in technology and social networking, Christina serves as the social networking coordinator for the Association of Oncology Social Work.
Carolyn Vachani is an oncology advanced practice nurse at the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center. She has worked in the areas of medical hematology and oncology, bone marrow transplant, clinical research, radiation therapy and staff development.In her current role, she serves as the nurse educator for OncoLink, giving her the opportunity to educate patients, families and healthcare professionals all over the world. She serves as the project leader in the development and maintenance of the LIVESTRONG Care Plan and has a strong interest in oncology survivorship care.
