About Our Speaker

Julie Larson, LCSW is a psychotherapist in New York City. In her practice she works primarily with people under the age of 40 on issues of wellness, loss and life transitions. Prior to establishing her private practice, Julie was the young adult program director at CancerCare for 6 years.  In that capacity, she developed a national program inclusive of both age-specific support services and educational materials focused on the distinct issues faced by young adults impacted by a cancer diagnosis.  Julie served as a member of the multidisciplinary steering committee of the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance, a coalition of organizations working on national initiatives to improve quality of life and the survival rates of young adults with cancer.  She has been a leader in helping establish distinct standards of care and professional training in adolescent and young adult oncology and presents often on the impact of a serious illness at a young age. Julie continues to advise many advocate organizations on strategies to improve their young adult programming and has been featured in various publications including: SELF Magazine, Cure Magazine, The Crazy Sexy Cancer: Survival Guide; Everything Changes: The Insider’s Guide to Cancer in Your 20s and 30s and a number of survivor blogs.
