LHRC is dedicated to improving the health of lesbians, bisexual women, transgender people and their families. To achieve this goal, they create comprehensive programs of research, education and trainings, public events and community collaborations.
National Cancer Institute - Portal on Cancer Health Disparities
NCI supports research to identify and understand the factors that contribute to disparities. NCI also funds studies to develop and disseminate culturally appropriate interventions. The National LGBT Cancer Network is the first national program addressing the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people with cancer and those at risk.
As the first national health education program focused on African-American women who partner with women, the local S.H.E. Circles provide a safe space where African-American lesbian and bisexual women can learn about health issues, ask questions, share information, connect with resources and provide support to each other.
The Mautner Project, The National Lesbian Health Organization
The Mautner Project educates lesbians about their health, trains healthcare providers about their lesbian patients and provides information on how to achieve better health outcomes for lesbians.
