Patricia A. Ganz, MD

Dr. Ganz, a medical oncologist, is professor of medicine at David Geffen School of Medicine and professor of health services at the Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. She is the director of the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research at Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, Calif., where she also leads a program focused on people in treatment and survivors, and of the UCLA-LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence. In 1997, she established the UCLA Family Cancer Registry and Genetic Evaluation Program, which serves people with cancer, survivors and people at high risk for hereditary cancers.

Dr. Ganz is dedicated to the assessment of quality of life in people with cancer and survivors, and has focused much of her research on breast cancer and its prevention. She is active in research with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and was a member of the NCI Progress Review Group on Breast Cancer. Dr. Ganz’s research interests include cancer survivorship and late effects of cancer treatment, cancer in the elderly and quality of care for people with cancer.

In addition to being a founding member of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), Dr. Ganz serves on the committees, boards, and editorial boards of several prominent projects and oncology journals.  She has been honored by the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and she is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine.
