Medical Advisory Board

The mission of Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Medical Advisory Board is to serve as an expert resource on issues of concern to women affected by breast cancer and their families (including women at high risk for developing breast cancer and caregivers) and to assist with outreach to other health professionals and consumers about the breadth of LBBC programs for women and families affected by breast cancer.

Many Medical Advisory Board members help with reviewing content for our website and publications, serve as speakers at our events and help answer your questions about breast cancer during our ask-the-expert series.


Ruth Oratz, MD, FACP

Ruth Oratz, MD, FACP, is a medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast cancer at The Women’s Oncology and Wellness Practice in New York City. She is clinical associate professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine.

Faith D. Ottery, MD, PhD, FACN

Faith D. Ottery, MD, PhD, FACN, is a surgical oncologist. She is president of Ottery and Associates, Oncology Care Consultants, and she serves as senior director of medical affairs at Savient Pharmaceuticals.

Ann H. Partridge, MD, MPH

Ann H. Partridge, MD, MPH, is a medical oncologist and clinical researcher focused on improving the care and outcomes of patients with cancer, with a particular focus on breast cancer.

Bert M. Petersen, Jr., MD, FACS

Bert M. Petersen, MD, FACS is director of the Breast Surgery Clinic Program at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY.

Barbara Rabinowitz, PhD, MSW, RN

Barbara Rabinowitz, PhD, MSW, RN, is director of oncology for the three hospitals of Meridian Health in New Jersey. She works with individuals, couples and groups on psychosocial and sexual issues related to breast cancer.

Evelyn Robles-Rodriguez, RN, MSN, NPC, AOCN

Evelyn Robles-Rodriguez, RN, MSN, NPC, AOCN, a member of LBBC's Medical Advisory Board, is an oncology advanced practice nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in Camden, New Jersey. 

Hope S. Rugo, MD

Dr. Hope S. Rugo is a clinical professor of medicine and director of the Breast Medical Oncology Clinical Trials Program in the division of hematology and oncology at the University of California, San Francisco, Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Mary Ellen Scheckenbach, MAc, LOM

Mary Ellen Scheckenbach, MAc, LOM, is chair of the acupuncture studies program at the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Glenside, Pennsylvania. She holds a Master in Acupuncture and is a licensed practitioner of Oriental medicine with 25 years of clinical experience in acupuncture and Chinese herbology.

Leslie R. Schover, PhD

Leslie R. Schover, PhD, is professor of behavioral science at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Lillie D. Shockney, RN, BS, MAS

Lillie D. Shockney is University Distinguished Service Assistant Professor of Breast Cancer and assistant professor in the departments of surgery and gynecology at John Hopkins University School of Medicine.
