Living Beyond Breast Cancer is honored to have this extraordinary group of individuals who contribute their time, effort and expertise to further Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s mission of providing breast cancer information and furthering breast cancer awareness. The board guides long-term planning strategies and provides organizational oversight and development.
Executive Officers
Mit Joyner, MSW, LCSW
ChairMit Joyner, a breast cancer survivor and 2003 gala honoree, began working with LBBC more than a decade ago when our founder asked her to become involved. She helped hire Jean A. Sachs, MSS, MLSP, our first executive director. Ms. Joyner spoke at some of our first conferences and regularly promotes our mission through television, newspaper and magazine interviews. She approves continuing education credits for social workers who attend our programs for licensure.
Ms. Joyner is a full professor of the undergraduate social work program at West Chester University. The vice president of the Council on Social Work Education, Ms. Joyner is a site selector for the Association of Baccalaureate Social Workers and the bank director for DNB First. She has won numerous awards in the fields of social work, gerontology and education. Her social work degrees are from Central State University and Howard University. Ms. Joyner enjoys travel, riding horses and visiting friends.
Lisa Bayard
Vice ChairLBBC vice chair Lisa Bayard has been involved with LBBC since 1995. She has helped raised funds for LBBC through several events and has served as gala co-chair. She was elected to the board in 2006. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994, Ms. Bayard found LBBC's semi-annual conferences extremely helpful. She has brought many friends and colleagues to conferences, the gala and other regional events. Ms. Bayard was a 2004 gala honoree.
A graduate of Penn State University, Ms. Bayard has spent 15 years in educational publishing in sales and marketing. She was the past-president of the college publishing division of CBS. In 1987, Ms. Bayard bought and opened six Sylvan Learning Centers in the Philadelphia suburbs, Delaware and south Jersey and within eight years was running all of Sylvan's corporate-owned centers. She has won various awards in publishing and at Sylvan. Ms. Bayard enjoys travel, biking and skiing.
Robin Bender Stevens
SecretaryRobin Bender Stevens joined the LBBC board in 2004 and was elected board secretary in 2007. A friend of several women affected by breast cancer, she joined LBBC in part because she appreciated the focus on underserved women, and she saw potential in LBBC's ability to grow nationally and internationally.
Ms. Stevens received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's in public policy analysis from the university's Wharton School. She is executive director of medical strategies and physician education at Merck, where she has worked for nearly 20 years. Her department oversees relationships with clinical, scientific and policy thought-leaders who serve as advisors or speakers for Merck's portfolio of vaccines. Prior to her position at Merck, she worked as a health policy analyst and in health planning. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage sons, music, outdoor activities, reading and crossword puzzles.
Sandy Lipstein
TreasurerNamed treasurer of the board in 2008, Sandy Lipstein has worked with LBBC since 2001. The following year, he and his wife, Gail, a long-time volunteer and 2006 gala honoree, were co-chairs of LBBC's eighth annual gala. Mr. Lipstein became a board member in 2007.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, Mr. Lipstein is executive vice president and CFO for Comcast-Spectacor, where he has worked for 21 years. Previously, he worked for 15 years in public accounting and for four years as a partner with Grant Thornton LLP. Mr. Lipstein serves on the board of the Phoenixville Area YMCA, the Philadelphia Society for Services to Children and the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. He enjoys biking, gardening, martial arts and travel.

Medical Advisory Board
The mission of LBBC’s Medical Advisory Board is to serve as an
expert resource on issues of concern to women affected by breast
cancer and their families (including women at high risk for developing
breast cancer and caregivers) and to assist with outreach to other
health professionals and consumers about the breadth of LBBC programs
for women and families affected by breast cancer.
