Kim Jennings is from Maidens, Virginia, which is just outside the state capital of the beautiful Old Dominion state. She is 51 years old and was diagnosed with stage IIB invasive ductal carcinoma on August 7, 2014. Her treatment program included chemotherapy, a double mastectomy with immediate tissue expanders, radiation, targeted therapy and long-term oral medication. Her next surgery is scheduled for October 20, 2016 to obtain permanent silicone implants.
Kim has been married for 24 years to her husband Arthur. They have one son, Rylee, who is 21 years old. Kim has worked for the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired for 23 years where she started as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and is now serving as a senior manager.
Kim is passionate about helping people and is caring and empathetic. She is positive, energetic and outgoing. She loves life and savors every moment, whether at work or at play. The opportunity for the Community Connector program is a natural fit given her medical history and personality. She is excited to bring LBBC’s message to Virginia, because, she says, “it really is all about LIVING BEYOND breast cancer!”
