Adria Pearson-Mauro, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor in the departments of family medicine and psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her clinical practice is at the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus. She has specialty training in treating complex and severe mental health problems and application of psychology services in integrated healthcare settings. 

Dr. Pearson-Mauro has devoted much of her research to treatment development for body image dissatisfaction using acceptance and commitment therapy. She co-authored the book ACT for Body Image Dissatisfaction (Pearson, Heffner & Follette, 2010). Currently she is using this method to treat body image dissatisfaction in women with breast cancer at the Diane O’Connor Thompson Breast Center of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. She has presented at national and international conferences on the topic of psychotherapy development and outcome, and has published in peer reviewed journals. In addition to clinical work and research, Dr. Pearson-Mauro supervises psychiatry residents and teaches courses in the PhD program in clinical health psychology at the University of Colorado, Denver’s downtown campus.
