Teleconference Focused on Getting Relief from Chronic Pain

Listen to a free replay of our March teleconference, Getting Relief: Pain Management Strategies for Women Affected by Breast Cancer.
Kathleen M. Foley, MD, of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, provided practical ways to help you lessen pain related to breast cancer and its treatments, whether you are recently diagnosed, have completed treatment or are living with advanced disease. Topics included:
- Dealing with post-mastectomy and lymph node dissection pain syndromes
- Managing pain associated with radiation therapy to the breast or axilla
- Lessening neuropathy and joint pain related to chemotherapy and hormonal therapies
- Easing chronic pain and discomfort from ongoing treatments for advanced breast cancer
About Our Speaker
Dr. Foley is an attending neurologist in the pain and palliative care service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and a professor of neurology, neuroscience and clinical pharmacology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She was the previous director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Cancer Pain Research and Education at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. She holds the chair of the Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Pain Research.
In addition, Dr. Foley is the medical director of the Open Society Institute’s International Palliative Care Initiative of the Network Public Health Program working to advance palliative care globally. Her national and international efforts in the treatment of people with cancer pain were recognized when she was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
