Dr. Jones completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard in History and Science and obtained a master’s degree in the history of science. He attended medical school at NYU Langone School of Medicine, completed internship and residency in radiation oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship Program fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

In 2015, Dr. Jones established the palliative radiotherapy service at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and has been the director of the service since. He has been the director of the spine oncology program since 2021. His clinical expertise is in the treatment of patients with advanced and metastatic cancer with a focus on the use of radiotherapy to improve symptom control and quality of life. He believes strongly in an interdisciplinary team approach to providing care for patients and families, focusing on the patient as a person in the context of his or her life and trying to return the patient to optimal functioning.
