Thriving Together: 2023 Conference on Metastatic Breast Cancer will take place in-person in Philadelphia, PA and virtually in the Webex platform (formerly Socio). The platform is easy to use and has lots of great features for learning and connecting regardless of how you are participating in the conference.

You can access the conference platform from your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, or a combination of devices. This article will give you the information you need to access and explore the platform, so that you can get the most out of your conference experience.

In-person attendee set-up

We recommend that you set up Web Access for your desktop or laptop AND download the Webex app to your preferred mobile device (phone or tablet). See instructions below.

  1. The desktop or laptop set-up will allow you to have the best experience for the Virtual Breakout Sessions on Wednesday, April 26 at 12:00pm before you travel to Philadelphia. See instructions below.
  2. The app on your phone or tablet will allow you to access the platform while you are in Philadelphia. See instructions below. There are some activities that ONLY take place on the app, they include:
    • submitting questions during conference sessions
    • connecting with ALL conference attendees
    • playing our conference game

We recommend using Web Access on your desktop or laptop for those participating virtually. This will allow you to see the presentations and interact with the platform in a wide screen format. See instructions below.

Desktop & laptop instructions

Use these instructions to join the event from your desktop or laptop computer. We recommend using Google Chrome as your browser for the best experience and make sure you have the latest version.

  1. Follow this link: https://app.socio.events/MjA5MTY%3D or click on the Access on the web button above.
  2. You will be asked to enter your email address. You must use the same email address that you used to register for the conference. If you’re not sure what email you used, contact programs@lbbc.org and we can assist you.
    • If you’ve attended our virtual conference before or are a returning user to the Webex platform, enter your existing password. If you don’t remember your password, click “forgot your password?” to reset your password and follow the steps.
    • If this is your first time accessing the platform, you will need to create a password. After you enter your password twice, click the “sign up” button. Please make a note of your password, as you will need it every time to login to the Webex platform. If you cannot remember your password, click “forgot your password?” to reset your password.
  3. You are now in the 2023 Conference on Metastatic Breast Cancer platform! Watch the navigation video below to get familiar with the platform.
  4. Now is a great time to build out your Attendee profile, located at the lower left corner of the platform. You can add a photo and share a bit about yourself, this will appear to other attendees in the platform.

Phone or tablet instructions

Use these instructions to join the event from a phone or tablet. If you've downloaded and logged into the Webex (formerly Socio) app before, great! Simply open the app, search for Thriving Together: 2023 Virtual Conference on Metastatic Breast Cancer and click on the event to join.

If you've never used the Webex app before, please use these instructions to download the app and join the event from your preferred device:

  1. Open the App Store or Google Play and search for “Webex Event App
  2. Download the “Webex Event App” – be sure to download the Event app and not the Meetings or Business app.

Frequently asked questions

I can’t get into the conference platform.

If you are having difficulty logging into the conference platform here are a few things to try:

  • Make sure you are registered for the conference (you should have received a confirmation email from Eventbrite) and use the same email address to login that you used to register
  • Reset your password
  • If you are not already using Google Chrome as your web browser, switch to Google Chrome

How do I navigate the conference platform?

You can navigate the conference platform using the menu located on the left side of your screen. Clicking on each icon will lead you to a different area of the platform. Watch this navigation video for more information.

How do I watch the live sessions?

You can watch the live conference sessions by going to the “Agenda” section of the platform and clicking on the session you wish to watch. At the session’s scheduled start time, the session livestream will automatically begin playing.

Will recordings of the conference sessions be available?

Yes. Conference sessions will be recorded and will be available in the agenda section of the conference platform a couple of days after the live conference ends. You can watch the recordings of the conference sessions in the “Agenda” section of the platform. The conference platform will remain open until May 25th, 2023.

I am trying to participate in the video hangouts, but my camera/microphone isn’t working.

If your video or audio isn't working in the video hangouts, here are a few things to try:

  • Make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of Google Chrome
  • Make sure you have a working microphone and camera in your device.
  • Try leaving the hangout, refresh your browser, and rejoin the hangout
  • Allow Webex to access your microphone and your camera. When you go to join a video hangout, a pop-up notification should appear on your Chrome browser stating that Webex wants access to your microphone and camera. Click “allow.” If you miss this pop-up, you can also adjust your Chrome browser’s Privacy and security settings to allow access to your camera and microphone.
  • If you are in the hangout already, go to settings (the gear icon in the bottom center of the screen) and check your audio and video settings. You may have to change your audio or video source.

How do I connect with other attendees?

To send a connection request to another attendee click on their name to preview their profile and then click “add”. Anywhere an attendee’s name appears (in a session chat, video hangout, on the conference wall, etc.) you can click on that attendee’s name to view their profile and add them as a connection. You can also view a list of attendees by going to the “attendees” section of the navigation menu.

How do I participate in the conference game?

To participate in the conference game login to the platform and select “Game Center” from the navigation menu. There you will find prompts for everything you can earn points for doing, such as attending live sessions, visiting exhibitors, and more. You earn points by completing challenges that unlock codes. You then put those codes into the text box at the top of the “Challenges” tab of the Game Center. Try it now by going to the “Game Center” and entering the code SUPPORT
