Amy Reichbach shares a poem she wrote in Writing the Journey, a 6-part workshop series offered in-person or online for women affected by breast cancer. This poem was inspired by Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg.

My nakedness tells a story,
one of danger and risk.
Trails of stitches trace the curve
of each breast, creating new shapes
of old body parts.
I have been slashed open,
so expertly the casual observer
cannot read the message engraved
across my body:

Amy Reichbach is a lawyer, educator, and divorced lesbian mom living in the Boston area. This piece was written during her participation in LBBC’s online Writing the Journey program facilitated by Alysa Cummings.
