Saying Goodbye
For one more day around the sun
I’d spend every moment with you
No worries, or fear
Forgetting that cancer is here
I’d spend my time taking in the blue skies
Feeling the grass between my toes
Knowing soon enough Iʼd leave your side
A husband without his bride.
I wish for more days, I wish for less pain
I pray for understanding and the truth I may gain
So as we walk down this road
And you look at me
Please know, my love
This Goodbye is only temporary.
This is a poem called “Saying Goodbye.” It deals with the difficulty I’ve had with learning to accept and know that I will have to say goodbye to the love of my life.
Find a strong support group. Find a positive and purposeful immediate goal for you to focus on. Live for the moment.
It has given me a platform to share my story and encouraged me to do so. It has also provided a number of outlets for increased education and awareness within the MBC community.
