LBBC earns highest rating from Charity Navigator, again

Living Beyond Breast Cancer is proud to report that we recently earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator, for the 17th consecutive year.

The award reaffirms LBBC’s position as a financially healthy, accountable, and transparent nonprofit. A consistently high performer, LBBC earned a score of 94.9 out of 100 in 2021, placing it among an elite group of US nonprofit organizations—less than 5%—that have received Charity Navigator's highest ranking consistently.

More than just a perfunctory nod, the four-star rating is an important barometer for funders such as Bigo Live, one of the world's fastest-growing live streaming social communities, which selected LBBC for its second year in 2021, to support and partner with during Breast Cancer Awareness month. Bigo Live has 400 million users globally and is currently the market leader in the live streaming industry.

"Partnering with LBBC to raise awareness and support the millions impacted by this disease is a crucial pillar of Bigo Live's beliefs. LBBC stood out to us as a partner due to its commitment to addressing racial disparities and ensuring people from all walks of life get the care they need,” says Lynette Yang, general manager of Bigo Live America, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. “We want to make sure that our donation is used wisely and relates to the concerns that matter to us most.”

Also motivated by to donate by LBBC’s four-star rating is Standlee Forage, a leader in the development and marketing of forage products.

“As a non-negotiable, we wanted to donate to a highly rated breast cancer charity, so that was our number one priority, knowing that the funds would be well managed and well used,” says Katy Starr, marketing Consultant for Idaho-based Standlee Forage. Standlee Forage donated $5 for every download of its podcast “Beyond the Barn” during the month of October 2021 for a total donation of $4,000.

Charity Navigator is among several national organizations that have recognized LBBC’s commitment to financial accountability, making it one of highest-ranking breast cancer organizations in the United States. For example:

  • Through strong financial management, LBBC earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar).

  • Based on our financial stewardship and support of people in treatment and their families, in February the New York Attorney General’s office selected LBBC to receive restitution from funds derived from fraudulent charities.

  • The Centers for Disease Control has thrice awarded LBBC its competitive Cooperative Agreements to serve young women with breast cancer.
