Radiation is a type of local therapy that treats any cancer that remains in the area where the breast cancer was found and helps protect you from the breast cancer coming back in the same place. This program will help you understand radiation therapy and provide you with updates on this treatment option.

During this program, Tamara A. LaCouture, MD, discussed:

  • What to expect during treatment
  • Practical tips for managing side effects such as skin irritation, fatigue and discomfort

About Our Speaker

Tamara A. LaCouture, MD, is chief of radiation oncology at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. She also serves as vice chair of radiation oncology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and medical director of Cooper CyberKnife.

As a board certified radiation oncologist, Dr. LaCouture is an active member of several professional societies in oncology and radiation oncology and a principal investigator at Cooper Hospital's for radiation therapy oncology group. As an energetic patient advocate, Dr. LaCouture regularly lectures at patient education seminars and physician continuing medical education programs.
