Most people who are diagnosed with breast cancer are diagnosed with
early-stage breast cancer
. Breast cancer is considered early-
stage
if it has not traveled beyond the breast or nearby
lymph
nodes. Early-stage breast cancers include
ductal carcinoma in situ
, stage I, stage IIA, stage IIB and stage IIIA breast cancers.
Treatments for early-stage breast cancer aim to destroy cancer cells and stop them from returning or spreading to other parts of the body.
