Stephanie Dante Smith, 41, of Lynchburg, Virginia, is a coordinator for a nonprofit organization. In March 2023, she was diagnosed with stage IA, primarily invasive ductal cancer mixed with DCIS (left breast).
Smith believes seeing others with similar experiences can help prevent feelings of isolation. She is dedicated to advocating for others and sharing her journey. A mother to a seven-year-old son, Smith enjoys reading, watching television, attending church, swimming, skating, and spending time with her family. She also has a husky named Maxine.
I hope that my experience will motivate anyone affected by breast cancer to focus on the positive aspects of their experience. Yes, cancer sucks, but being able to take a shower after surgery is a win.
