Melenaite Fifita is a staff research associate and Tongan patient navigator and translator at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement. Her community-based projects promote cancer prevention and early detection among Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. In 2010, Ms. Fifita co-founded a Tongan civic club, Famili Pe Taha (One Family), to focus on patient navigation and provide access to health resources for low-income families. Since 2012, Ms. Fifita has served on the board of directors for a non-profit organization, Pacific Islander Health Partnership, volunteering to provide health education as well as a diverse range of workshops and classes for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in Orange County, California.
