Jake first became connected to Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) through Megan Rutt, his dear friend and former neighbor, and recent board chair of LBBC. Witnessing Megan’s diagnosis and her family's efforts to navigate their health crisis with three young children had a profound impact on Jake.

His personal connection intensified when Jake’s wife, Michelle, was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2022. Experiencing firsthand the complexities of navigating treatment decisions, even with strong support systems in place, underscored for him the critical need for LBBC’s resources. He saw how LBBC’s combination of trusted information, community support, and guidance provides hope and empowerment to individuals and families facing breast cancer, regardless of their circumstances.

Jake’s advocacy began with his role on the Butterfly Ball committee in 2018, an experience that highlighted the impact of LBBC’s work. As a board member, Jake brings his lived experience, empathy, and passion for supporting those affected by breast cancer. He is committed to contributing to LBBC’s mission by helping expand its reach and continuing to serve as a voice for those navigating the complexities of a breast cancer diagnosis.
