Survivorship training

Start a Survivorship Series for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer in Your Cancer Center

LBBC's Survivorship Series program trains oncology nurse navigators about the unique survivorship issues for young women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer under age 45. We are excited to be accepting team applications from two members of a cancer center where at least one member of the team is an oncology nurse navigator.

This year, we are targeting cancer centers from the Western region of the United States, which encompasses Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer is seeking oncology nurse navigators to become Program Leaders for our 7th annual Survivorship Series program. This program educates oncology nurse navigators about the specific survivorship challenges for women under 45 with breast cancer, and teaches them how to introduce a patient education program at their cancer center. Program materials and resources are provided to support the implementation of the Survivorship Series at their institution or cancer center. The Survivorship Series can be implemented as an in-person or virtual program.

This year, LBBC is targeting cancer centers from the Western region of the United States, which encompasses Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

LBBC will be accepting team applications from two people from the same health system/cancer center. One of the team members needs to be an oncology nurse navigator, but the other team member can be another cancer center staff member who is not a nurse.

Selected participants will attend a virtual training. Being a program leader did not meet my expectations—it exceeded them. I expected to bring back some knowledge and a program to help enrich the lives of young women with breast cancer—but what I actually brought back far surpassed those simple goals.
