Dr. Barsevick is associate professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center and director of nursing research, a position she has held for the past 20 years. She is also an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN®) and a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).

She has a long history of research grant funding from the National Institute of Nursing Research, the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society and the Oncology Nursing Society. She is also an adjunct associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing where she teaches classes on the science of symptom management.

Dr. Barsevick has built a program of research focused on symptom management and cancer survivorship. She has conducted several large clinical intervention trials of symptom management during cancer treatment. Her symptom management research has earned Dr. Barsevick a state of the science award from the Oncology Nursing Society and an appointment to a steering committee of the National Cancer Institute that determines the national agenda for symptom management research. Her work on cancer survivorship includes a current study of African-American women diagnosed with breast cancer and a study of work outcomes for people diagnosed wtih colon and rectal cancer.
