Claudia Campos Galván, MA, is the chief programs officer at Nueva Vida, an organization that provides culturally sensitive cancer support services for Latino families in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metropolitan areas. In that role, Ms. Campos Galván provides leadership and supervision of the day-to-day program activities like patient navigation, outreach and education services, individual counseling, support groups, stress reduction activities, educational workshops, and the national peer-support program at headquarters. Through Nueva Vida, she developed and facilitated the first Latino metastatic support group in the area. She has experience in managing and facilitating multidisciplinary and multicultural groups at national and international levels in topics like health disparities, Psycho-oncology for Latinos, culturally-appropriate services for Latinos facing cancer, best practices in a patient-caregiver intervention for Latina breast cancer survivors, post-traumatic growth in Latinas, gender studies, women and empowerment, and laughter yoga.
