Elaine Walsh, MB BCh BAO, PhD, is a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of people with breast cancer. At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dr. Walsh works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest level of care and best treatment options to people with breast cancer, while taking individual preferences and priorities into account.

Dr. Walsh’s research focuses on breast cancer, particularly triple-negative breast cancers caused by an inability to repair DNA damage. By developing clinical trials to study breast cancers that have DNA damage repair defect, she studies new targeted therapies to be used along with, or as an alternative to, chemotherapy. She also studies how cancers develop resistance to therapies. Her goal is to develop more personalized therapies to treat breast cancers.
