Lu Ann Cahn is director of career services for the Temple University School of Media and Communication. She is also the author of the inspirational memoir I Dare Me, an entertaining look back on a year that changed everything for her. In December 2014, she left her 40-year career in broadcast news to dare audiences across the country  and to help launch the next generation of communication professionals graduating from Temple University.

Ms. Cahn is well known in Philadelphia, where she worked as a reporter for WCAU-TV for 27 years. In 1991 Ms. Cahn made local and national news when she publicly told her story of battling breast cancer after a missed diagnosis  when she was only 35. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Ms. Cahn grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She is married to former NBC10 photojournalist Phil Houser. They’re proud of their daughter Alexa, who dared herself to start the company Bad Kids Collective and is now the owner of her own company managing music talent. Lu Ann Cahn is a member of Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Board of Directors.
