Dr. Roughton's passion is breast reconstruction. It is truly an honor to her to care for cancer survivors and restore not only their breasts, but maintain their self image and self esteem. Dr. Roughton grew up in North Carolina and began her career as a medical student at UNC. It was in the same place she now works where she became interested in breast cancer reconstruction. Dr. Roughton went on to the University of Chicago for residency, where she was trained in all types of reconstructive breast surgery including onco-plastic breast reconstruction. She then became part of a highly specialized reconstructive private practice group in Chicago for two years and specialized in microsurgical breast reconstruction, ex. DIEP flaps. Dr. Roughton was recruited home to UNC and began her practice here in August 2013.
