Shenin Sachedina, DO, is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in benign and malignant breast disease, founder of the Central Florida Breast Center in Winter Park, Florida, and the award-winning author of Metu and Lee Learn About Breast Cancer, a children’s book dedicated to educating and empowering children whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

Born in Masaka, Uganda, Dr. Sachedina and her family were brought to the United States in 1972 when she was just 9 years old. Through the ongoing support of her family and community, she was able to overcome the hardship and challenges of adjusting to her new home. After graduating from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completing her residency in general surgery, she discovered her passion for breast care at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

In addition to providing the highest quality, cutting edge medical care available, Dr. Sachedina is committed to supporting the emotional well-being of her patients and their families. It was this commitment and her sincere desire to give back to the community that led to the creation of the Metu and Lee Project, a series of books that helps transform confusion and fear into understanding and hope and supports the medical needs of children through the Metu and Lee Charitable Fund.

Her book, Metu and Lee Learn About Breast Cancer, has won a number of awards including the Mom’s Choice Award for 2010. Dr. Sachedina was honored with a Compassionate Doctor Recognition with the Patient’s Choice Award in 2010.
