Sophy H. Mangana, MD is a radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast, head and neck cancers. She also is an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Her breast cancer research has focused on the effects of body mass index, BMI, on survival, as well as on cosmetic outcomes — including for people who had partial breast radiation using brachytherapy. Dr. Mangana has a strong interest in health disparities and in health issues that are concentrated in her regional community. Her current research focuses on people with breast cancer with Metabolic Syndrome and the rate of recurrence in that population.

Dr. Mangana is a member of the American College of Radiation Oncologists, the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the Radiological Society of North America. She received her B.S. in Latin American Studies from Brown University and earned her MD in 2007. She completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center and residency training in radiation oncology at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.
