Susan Hedlund, MSW, LCSW

Susan Hedlund, MSW, LCSW, is the manager of patient and family support services at Oregon Health & Science University's (OHSU) Knight Cancer Institute, and is on the faculty of the university’s School of Medicine. She is also on the faculty at Portland State University’s Graduate School of Social Work. Ms. Hedlund has been a social worker in the healthcare field for 30 years and she has extensive experience working with individuals and families facing life threatening illness and loss. She has facilitated many retreats for people with cancer and views these retreats as a way of “stepping apart,” and gaining perspective on the cancer experience. Additionally, she regularly speaks to support groups and healthcare professionals about coping with illness and providing support for caregivers.
