Katy’s main areas of interest are sharing her lived experience through storytelling, representing Living Beyond Breast Cancer at events, and engaging in media advocacy.
Thriving with metastatic breast cancer for nine years, Katy describes herself as a medically-retired special education teacher with a passion for fundraising. In recent years, she has developed a love for running and most recently completed the 2024 Boston Marathon while raising funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
A lifelong crafter, Katy makes custom glitter tumblers, shirts, wood signs, and has recently started decorating royal icing cookies. She’s excited to continue learning how to advocate for her community and make a meaningful impact.
I am a firm believer that when you go through struggles in life, you can find a way to make the road a little easier for those who come behind you.
