Kia Lee
New York
Kia Lee is an author, speaker, and advocate for women navigating healing, identity, and life after trauma. Her first memoir, Lighthouse: Surviving Narcissistic Abuse, explores recovery from emotional trauma and domestic violence. Her second memoir, Lighthouse: The Path Through Cancer, the Power of Becoming, chronicles her breast cancer journey and the profound inner transformation that followed, shaped by facing her mortality and the questions that inevitably arise in its wake.
Through her writing, Kia gives language to the often unspoken emotional and spiritual terrain of survivorship, naming feelings many carry but struggle to articulate. Her work is grounded in compassion, honesty, and lived experience, inviting readers to slow down, listen inward, and rebuild life with intention.
Kia’s main areas of interest include sharing her lived experience through storytelling, policy and legislative advocacy, and media advocacy.
Kia was treated for early-stage breast cancer. She is an author, survivorship mentor, and advocate who is passionate about helping women navigate the emotional changes and shifts in identity that can follow a breast cancer diagnosis. Through writing, speaking, and mentorship, she encourages women to trust themselves, reclaim their lives, and discover who they are becoming beyond a diagnosis.
Kia finds the most joy in her time with God, writing, Pilates, walks in the sunshine, days near the ocean, meaningful conversations, and being fully present with the people she loves. She believes healing is not only about recovery but also about learning to live more intentionally and authentically, guided by what matters most to her.
I hope to use my voice to help close gaps in survivorship support, elevate the experiences of younger women affected by breast cancer, and help more people feel informed, empowered, and connected throughout their journey.
