- 2026 Young Advocate
Mari’s main areas of interest include representing LBBC at events, sharing her lived experience through storytelling, and moderating LBBC webinars and educational programs.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Mari is an Afro-Latina pediatrician and public health professional. Through her work, she is passionate about helping children and families thrive while advancing health equity and early childhood development. Beyond her professional work, Mari finds the greatest joy in traveling, celebrating life with the people she loves, and being by the ocean, which is her favorite place to recharge, reflect, and feel at home.
I hope my work with Living Beyond Breast Cancer empowers young women to learn about breast cancer, advocate for their health, and seek care without fear. For those facing a diagnosis, I want them to know that life doesn’t end with breast cancer — there is hope, healing, and the opportunity to thrive beyond treatment.
