Elisabeth Potter, MD is a board certified plastic surgeon based in Austin, Texas. She has devoted her professional career to providing in-network breast reconstruction surgery for breast cancer patients and previvors.
As a microsurgeon, Dr. Potter is an expert at the DIEP flap procedure, an advanced surgery that can construct a breast using the patient's own skin and tissue while completely saving all of the patient’s muscle, making it a safe, lifelong reconstruction option for patients.
Believing that all reconstruction options, including DIEP flap, should be accessible to breast cancer patients and previvors seeking reconstruction, Dr. Potter founded her nonprofit, Community Breast Reconstruction Alliance, which lobbies and advocates for access to all breast reconstruction options through insurance. Through her nonprofit, Dr. Potter has successfully restored needed insurance codes that provide increased access to advanced natural-tissue reconstruction.
Dr. Potter received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University with a major in molecular biology. She completed her medical degree at the Emory University School of Medicine and her Plastic Surgery Integrated Residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Following residency, Dr. Potter completed her Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery Fellowship with MD Anderson in Huston, Texas.
