Maddie Deutsch, MD, is clinical lead for the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health and an assistant clinical professor in the department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She chairs the medical advisory board which develops guidelines for primary care protocols for transgender care, and serves on a team exploring the care of HIV-positive transgender women of color.
In the clinic, Dr. Deutsch provides transgender-inclusive primary care and hormone therapy at UCSF-Mount Zion Women’s Health Primary Care. She maintains a transgender consultation clinic at UC-Berkeley Student Health Services.
Dr. Deutsch’s research interests include cervical cancer risk in transgender men, access to primary care for transgender people and the use of electronic medical records in caring for transgender people. She serves on the editorial boards for the International Journal of Transgenderism and the Journal of LGBT Health.
