She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, in 1999 where her senior thesis was on Jean Watson’s science of human caring, which allowed her to practice this theory over a January term during an internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This internship ignited Carolyn’s passion for taking care of the whole person (mind/body/soul), rather than focusing on the “broken part.”

After college, Carolyn worked as a travel RN in cardiology, and, on one particular travel assignment in 2003 at MSKCC, she found her home in oncology nursing while working amongst other passionate nurses who truly cared for the  whole patient (mind/body/soul).

Carolyn is also trained as a certified life coach and reiki master and amma massage therapist. She left MSKCC after 15 years to pursue the role of nurse navigation and live closer to her family. She has been working as a breast nurse navigator/coordinator at Yale New Haven Health Smilow Cancer Center in Greenwich since June 2018.
