Janice Cowden is a dedicated research patient advocate and serves as the patient advocate research lead in the American Society of Clinical Oncology CDK Dosing Study, representing the Patient-Centered Dosing Initiative (PCDI).
Diagnosed with stage IV triple-negative breast cancer in 2016, Janice began her advocacy after completing Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Hear My Voice program in 2017. She later graduated from the National Breast Cancer Coalition's Project LEAD scientific training in 2019.
A retired pediatric nurse and former pharmaceutical sales representative, Janice brings a wealth of scientific and medical knowledge to her advocacy. She is committed to supporting and educating others living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) by sharing the most up-to-date information on MBC research, treatments, and clinical trials to help them make informed decisions about their care.
Janice collaborates with researchers and is active in several patient-founded and led organizations, including GRASP, PCDI, and Project Life MBC. She also serves on the board of directors for METAvivor Research and Support, Inc., and the advisory board for Project Life MBC. As a peer support advocate, she founded and manages an international online peer support group for newly diagnosed MBC patients. Janice regularly attends scientific breast cancer conferences to expand her knowledge and better serve the MBC community.
When not engaged in advocacy, Janice enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with her husband, two adult children, and three grandchildren.
