Alvaro Alvarez Soto, MD, is a medical oncologist at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University Health and an assistant professor of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
His clinical and research interests center on breast cancer, with a focus on epidemiology, biomarker development, and addressing racial and ethnic disparities in outcomes.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Soto completed his medical degree at Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, an internal medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Connecticut Hospital’s Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has received awards from the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative, ECOG-ACRIN, and FDA/ASCO. Most recently, he was accepted into the City of Hope Genomic Cancer Risk Assessment Program, where he will further develop expertise in cancer risk stratification and prevention.
