Dr. Fingeret served on the MD Anderson faculty for 10 years, where she developed the only program of its kind in the United States focused on addressing body image issues for people affected by cancer through research, patient care services, and educational activities. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed research articles, has been awarded numerous grants from the National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society, and created the first and only academic textbook on body image care for cancer patients, Body Image Care for Cancer Patients.
A fellow and former president of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society, Dr. Fingeret founded Fingeret Psychology Services in 2017 to expand her work in body image education and support for oncology healthcare professionals and cancer survivors. She provides body image therapy services to adult cancer survivors in states that participate in PSYPACT, an interstate compact that permits psychologists to practice across state lines. She has also developed online courses, as well as in person/virtual training and education programs, focused on body image care.
