Ting Bao, MD, MS, FSIO, is deputy director and director of research at the Cherng Family Center for Integrative Oncology at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is also professor in the departments of Supportive Care Medicine and Medical Oncology. Dr. Bao is a past president of the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO), former co-chair of its Education Committee, and current co-chair of its Research Committee.
Dr. Bao is a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. She is also a medical acupuncturist and integrative medicine physician. She has led numerous clinical trials examining the safety, effectiveness, and mechanisms of acupuncture and yoga. Her research explores how these approaches can improve quality of life and manage symptoms caused by cancer and its treatments.
Born and raised in Beijing, Dr. Bao earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and her medical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also earned a master’s degree in clinical research from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Dr. Bao previously held a joint faculty appointment in the Integrative Medicine and Breast Medicine services at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. From 2014 to 2023, she directed its Integrative Breast Oncology Program. She then served as co-director of the Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies and Healthy Living at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute from August 2023 to May 2026.
