Harold J. Burstein, MD, PhD, is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and director of academic partnerships at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he also practices as a breast oncologist.
Dr. Burstein’s research focuses on new treatments for early-stage and metastatic breast cancer and on studies addressing quality of life and health behavior among people diagnosed with breast cancer. He has published widely in medical journals and online.
He serves on several international breast cancer committees, including the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Breast Cancer Panel, the St. Gallen Breast Cancer Panel, and the Alliance Breast Cancer Committee, and chairs the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Guidelines Committee on endocrine therapy for breast cancer.
