No One Missed: Biomarker testing and metastatic breast cancer

When you test for biomarkers, you learn your treatment options
No One Missed: Metastatic Breast Cancer is an awareness campaign created to help people living with metastatic breast cancer learn about biomarker testing and feel prepared to ask their healthcare team whether testing may help guide their treatment plan.
Biomarker testing can give doctors important information about a person’s cancer, including changes in the cancer cells that may affect which treatments are most likely to help. For people living with metastatic breast cancer, this information can be especially important because cancer can change over time. Testing may be recommended after a metastatic diagnosis, when cancer grows or spreads, or when a new treatment plan is being considered.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer partnered with LUNGevity Foundation to bring No One Missed to the metastatic breast cancer community because every person deserves clear, accessible information that can help them take an active role in their care.
Why biomarker testing matters
Metastatic breast cancer is not one single disease. Biomarkers are specific features of cancer cells, such as proteins or changes in tumor cell DNA, that can help doctors understand how the cancer is behaving. Biomarker testing can help a healthcare team:
- Learn more about what may be causing the cancer to grow or spread
- Identify treatment options that target specific biomarkers
- Monitor for changes that may affect future treatment decisions
- Have more informed conversations with patients about their care
As new treatments become available, biomarker testing is an increasingly important part of personalized cancer care. No One Missed helps people living with metastatic breast cancer understand what biomarker testing is, when to ask about it, and how test results may inform treatment options.
This impactful campaign has brought together so many groups to help increase awareness of comprehensive biomarker testing in lung cancer, and we’re thrilled to introduce No One Missed to our community.
Why LBBC got involved
For more than 30 years, Living Beyond Breast Cancer has provided trusted information and support for people diagnosed with breast cancer, including people living with metastatic disease. Through our programs, stories, resources, and community connections, we hear directly from people who want to better understand their diagnosis, their treatment options, and the questions they should ask their healthcare team.
LUNGevity Foundation created No One Missed to increase awareness of biomarker testing and help ensure that more people with cancer are informed about testing as part of diagnosis and treatment planning. Together, LBBC and LUNGevity are expanding this work to reach people living with metastatic breast cancer.
Our shared goal is simple: no one should miss the opportunity to ask about biomarker testing and understand whether it may help guide their care.
What you’ll find in the campaign
The No One Missed: Metastatic Breast Cancer campaign includes practical, easy-to-use resources for people living with metastatic breast cancer and those who support them, including:
- A downloadable biomarker testing fact sheet
- A discussion guide to help people talk with their healthcare team
- Short educational videos
- Lived experience stories from members of the breast cancer community
- Spanish-language resources
These resources are designed to help people feel more confident starting conversations about biomarker testing and understanding how results may inform treatment decisions.
Reaching people where they receive care
LBBC is also working to extend No One Missed beyond digital awareness. We are developing efforts to help healthcare professionals in community cancer centers talk with people living with metastatic breast cancer about biomarker testing and use guideline-aligned information to inform treatment conversations.
This work is especially important because not every person receives care at a large academic cancer center. By helping healthcare teams share clear, accessible resources with patients, we can support more informed conversations and help more people understand whether biomarker testing should be part of their care.
