Event details

Having end of life conversations with patients can be difficult. Approaching these discussions honestly and openly are essential elements of patient care.

Dying Is Not Giving Up movie posterOn September 29th, 2021, there was a viewing of the award winning documentary “Dying Is Not Giving Up.” There are many valuable lessons in the film that are shared directly from Judy Erdahl, who is weeks away from dying of metastatic breast cancer. After the documentary, Kelly, the executive producer, discusses questions and case presentations. This webinar encourages you to reflect on your own comfort with these important conversations and how to handle them moving forward.

Contact hours and CEs were offered for nurses and social workers.*

Through the webinar you will:

  • Learn ways to have difficult conversations with patients in a humanistic and approachable manner through focusing on life goals, what matters most and who matters most to them
  • Develop a better understanding of “good patient syndrome” along with ways to recognize this as a barrier to honest conversation with your patients and the importance of addressing it
  • Learn to view end of life conversations as a privilege to have with your patients as it becomes an integral part of good patient care
  • Understand the importance of addressing mental health with patients at all phases of care, including end of life

Please note: Contact hours, CEs, and certificates of participation are available only to providers who joined the live webinar on 9/29/2021. This is a modified recording of the original program.
